Evacuation after Canford Bottom gas leak

A gas leak in Dorset which forced dozens of people to leave their homes has been capped.

The high-pressure main at Canford Bottom roundabout sprung a leak at about 09:45 GMT with a cordon set up.

Gas pressure in the area was reduced while engineers worked on the problem, with people warned appliances and heating systems may be affected.

Residents were later allowed home after the leak was capped. A rescue centre had been set up at a garden centre.

Roads feeding the roundabout were closed for several hours.
