The British masses have been gripped by oikodomophobia, a fear of negotiating with tradesmen.
According to recent reports, almost 5 million men have admitted to suffering symptoms including sweaty palms, cold sweats and difficulty breathing when dealing with plumbers, builders or electricians.
Over 30% of men said that, due to lack of knowledge and being unsure of whether or not they were being quoted a reasonable price, they felt intimidated and confused when negotiating with tradesmen.
As many men said their minds went blank when talking to plumbers and they even felt nervous when dealing with them.
Those working in advertising, banking and recruitment are most affected by the phobia, the term for which was coined in 2006.
