UK Housing Award 2012 winners named

The organisations that scooped the 16 prizes recognising achievement across the housing sector were named at an evening ceremony at the Park Lane Hilton tonight (27 June).

Comedian Jeremy Hardy handed out the prizes, which included two new awards: landlord of the year, which went to Westfield Housing Association; and the lifetime achievement award, which went to former Audit Commission chief inspector Roy Irwin.

The awards are run by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing.

CIH chief executive Grainia Long said: ‘The UK Housing Awards showcase the very best people and organisations working across the housing sector and we are thrilled to be a part of it.

‘Congratulations to Roy for the lifetime achievement recognition. The independent panel of judges chose Roy for his important contribution to raising the standards of housing management and maintenance through his work with the Audit Commission.’
