CORGI Accreditation

Independent assurance across the full spectrum of safety and compliance, starting with a simple readiness assessment - it takes less than 3 minutes.

What is CORGI Accreditation?

CORGI Accreditation is a rigorous, independent assurance framework designed to recognise excellence in safety and compliance management across the built environment. It has been developed to reflect the realities of complex estates, increasing regulatory scrutiny and the need for clear, defensible assurance at both operational and leadership levels.

Built specifically for housing providers, local authorities and safety-led organisations, it provides a single, coherent standard across the core compliance disciplines that matter most. It moves beyond individual audits and fragmented assurance, bringing clarity, consistency and confidence to how safety is governed, delivered and evidenced across the organisation.

Rather than focusing on isolated checks, CORGI Accreditation examines how systems, people and processes work together in practice. It looks at leadership oversight, competence management, data quality and the effectiveness of controls, ensuring that compliance is not only achieved, but sustained and understood.

This is not a tick-box scheme. It is a structured, evidence-based accreditation that demonstrates your organisation has the systems, competence and culture needed to manage risk responsibly, respond effectively to emerging issues, and provide trusted assurance to boards, regulators and residents alike.

How do you score?

Complete a short self-assessment and instantly discover your compliance strengths, blind spots and next steps, all in one tailored report.

What it covers

CORGI Accreditation assesses performance across eight critical areas. Each area is assessed against legislative requirements, recognised guidance and sector best practice, with evidence reviewed by qualified CORGI technical consultants.

Core governance & leadership

How safety and compliance are embedded through accountability, competence, culture and oversight.

Gas safety

Management of gas installations, servicing, contractor competence and alignment with IGEM & DSEAR rules.

Electrical safety

Inspection, testing, remedial control and assurance of fixed electrical systems.

Water safety (legionella)

Risk assessment, monitoring regimes and control of waterborne hazards.

Lifting equipment

LOLER compliance, inspection regimes and contractor assurance.

Fire safety

Fire risk assessment, action management, resident engagement and evacuation planning.

Asbestos management

Survey data, registers, communication and control of asbestos related risks.

Damp and mould

Time-bound response, data-led prevention and resident communication aligned with Awaab’s Law.

Who accreditation is for

CORGI Accreditation is designed for organisations that take safety seriously, including:

  • Social housing providers and housing associations

  • Local authorities and arm’s length management organisations

  • Property owners and managing organisations with complex estates

  • Safety and compliance teams seeking independent validation

  • Boards and senior leaders who require defensible assurance

Why organisations choose
CORGI Accreditation

Safety and compliance expectations are increasing. Regulators, boards and residents all want more than reassurance. They want evidence.

Many organisations manage each compliance area well in isolation, but struggle to demonstrate consistency, maturity and leadership oversight across the whole system. CORGI Accreditation solves that problem.

It provides:

  • A single, integrated framework across all major compliance disciplines
  • Independent verification from a trusted technical authority
  • Clear insight into strengths, gaps and priorities
  • A structured pathway to continuous improvement
  • A recognised mark of assurance that stands up to scrutiny
Most importantly, it helps organisations move from reactive compliance management to proactive, confident safety leadership.

Start with a readiness check

Before committing to accreditation, most organisations want to understand where they stand.

Our Accreditation Readiness Assessment gives you a fast, evidence-based view of your current maturity across all eight compliance areas. In just a few minutes, you will receive a personalised report highlighting strengths, development areas and recommended next steps. This assessment is free and designed to support informed decision-making.

Full support at every step of the way

CORGI Accreditation is supported throughout by experienced consultants and auditors. We work with you to validate evidence, strengthen assurance and build confidence at every stage.

Accreditation can be achieved across all areas at once or phased over time, allowing organisations to focus first on their strongest disciplines and expand as systems mature.

This is a partnership approach, not a one-off assessment.
